Coronavirus antidotes
When everything else is called off, RECREATION is the answer!
A tour of the town last Saturday produced the photographs below of folks combatting the cancellation of many public events by taking advantage of Smithfield's parks as well as the town's Recreation and Aquatics Center, better known as "the SRAC" ....
No "March Madness" basketball on TV? Take it outside! To the parking-lot courts beside the SRAC.
How 'bout some splashing inside the SRAC. Open last weekend, the swimming pools were closed starting Monday morning, and the rest of the SRAC's facilities were closed at 5 p.m. Monday until further notice.
Riding the playground dinosaur at Smithfield Community Park, which remains open (rentals of shelters and fields canceled through April 6).
Canceled games doesn't mean you can't practice --- at Civitan Field.
And, of course, the Buffalo Creek Greenway, including the Neuse Riverwalk, remains open to walkers, joggers, and bikers --- until the river overflows its banks again.
