NEW ASSIGNMENTS FOR ADMINISTRATORS
Kendrick Byrd
The board approved Superintendent Eric Bracy's recommendations for the following appointments:

• Kendrick Byrd as Area Assistant Superintendent for middle schools.
• Sandra Robertson as the new principal of Clayton Middle School.
• Dorlisa Johnson-Cowart as Executive Director of Middle Education and Advanced Learning.
• Reno Palombit as Director of Career and Technical Education.
• Ashley Radford as Executive Director of Exception Children.
• Tamara Thomas as Executive Director of School Improvement and Support.
Susan Jones
Dr. Bracy announced the following transfers:

• Stephen Barnett, from assistant principal at Benson Elementary to assistant principal at the Innovation Academy at South Campus in Smithfield.
• Susan Jones, from principal at Clayton Middle to principal at South Smithfield Elemenary.
• Laura Makey, from principal at South Smithfield to MTTS coach in the CIA Department (MTTS stands for Muliti-Tiered System of Supports, CIA for Curriculum, Instruction, and Accountability).
• Terry Reason, from assistant principal at McGee's Crossroads Elementary to assistant principal at Selma Elementary.


ANNUAL INSURANCE PACKAGE APPROVED

The board approved a package of annual coverage through Surry Insurance of Dobson for policies covering the school system's automobiles, properties, workers' compensation, cyber liability, flood damage, and other items at a total cost of $2,513,524.

Chief of Finance Stephen Britt noted that the coming year's cost is down from the past year's $2,631,003 because of a reduction in the premium for workers' compensation. Mr. Britt said he expects the cost of that coverage to continue downward over the next three years.

On a separate insurance matter, the board approved the school system's annual contribution to the N.C. School Boards Trust General Liability Fund in the amount of $167,934. That's down from the past year's $171,000, Mr. Britt noted.


 $94,513 PAID FOR STORAGE OF SCIENCE KITS

The board approved payment of $94,513 to Johnston County Industries for storage of science kits warehoused this past year because of the suspension of classes during the coronavirus pandemic.
