Here's a sample of Smithfield's fall-color explosion from a Sunday afternoon stroll

An hour-and-a-half walk up and down streets south of Market west of Third led to numerous spectacular scenes, including these representative samples:

And the winner is...

This magnificent maple beside Crescent Drive
just south of Maplewood Drive (appropriately named).
It wasn't this full last year, for whatever reason,
but it surely is making up for lost time this season.
